Amber Entertainment's looking for an assassin -- Ward Larsen's The Perfect Assassin -- as it joins with independent publishing house Oceanview Publishing to develop pics from Oceanview's 40-title catalog.
Assassin will be the first title developed. Amber's Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman will produce, with Oceanview founders Robert and Patricia Gussin and Susan Greger exec producing.
Story centers on a female American doctor sailing solo whose boat is hijacked by an Israeli assassin.
Maisel, a former New Line exec who founded Amber with Elman, Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming, found "Assassin" eight months ago in Massachusetts while visiting a friend in Massachusetts and tracked down Gregor in a nearby town.
"We hit it off immediately with Ileen, which I think bodes well for a successful partnership," Robert Gussin told Daily Variety.
It's the first sale of feature rights for five-year-old Oceanview, which was founded by the Gussins and Gregor -- who are all former Johnson & Johnson execs. Amber's currently in production on "Possession" with Haxan with "Blair Witch" director Eduardo Sanchez helming from a script he co-wrote with Jamie Nash.
Amber specializing in acquring and converting recognizable properties into films. It's currently in production on Tiger Eyes, based on the novel by Judy Blume, and The Possession, directed by Eduardo Sanchez and co-produced by Blair Witch Project creators Haxan Films.
