Cage, Cusack go north for Frozen Ground

Nicolas Cage and John Cusack are heading north to Alaska to topline thriller "The Frozen Ground," centered on the investigation of notorious serial killer Robert Hansen, with Emmett Furla Films financing and producing with Amber Entertainment.

Cage would portray the Alaska State Trooper who cracked the case. Cusack is in talks to play Hansen, who murdered as many as 21 women.

Randall Emmett and George Furla are producing with Amber's Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming. Envision and Curtis Jackson will exec produce. New Zealander Scott Walker will make his feature directorial debut, helming from his own script.

Shooting is set to start Oct. 10 in Anchorage with a $27 million budget.

Hansen, a respected family man, systematically abducted some two dozen women and flew them into the Alaskan wilderness where he released and then hunted them. Story will follow a trooper who finds one of Hansen's victims alive on the street who becomes the key in an unlikely partnership that brings Hansen to justice... bullet FULL ARTICLE

 

Bigfoot 'Exists' in new film

\Haxan Films and Amber Entertainment are looking for Bigfoot, setting an October start date for lensing "Exists," with "Blair Witch Project" director Eduardo Sanchez to helm.

"Exists," written by Jamie Nash and Sanchez, follows a group of twentysomethings who take a trip to a cabin deep in the wooded wilderness and are methodically hunted by a Bigfoot-like beast.

"The film is the first in a trilogy exploring and reinventing the Bigfoot myth," Sanchez said. "We all remember the terror of watching such classics as 'The Legend of Boggy Creek,' and I look forward to making Bigfoot scary again."... bullet FULL ARTICLE

Zombies go medieval: Amber brings "Stronghold" to screen

Amber Entertainment is teaming with British comicbook house 2000 AD and its Rebellion Publishing arm to bring medieval zombie tale "Stronghold" to life as a feature film.

Amber Entertainment's Ileen Maisel will produce. Rebellion's Jason Kingsley will make his directorial debut, and Rebellion's Chris Kingsley exec produces.

Tom Fickling is adapting the novel for the screen. The original "Stronghold" was penned by Paul Finch for the publisher's Abaddon imprint. bullet FULL ARTICLE

 

Amber sees Oceanview

Amber Entertainment's looking for an assassin -- Ward Larsen's The Perfect Assassin -- as it joins with independent publishing house Oceanview Publishing to develop pics from Oceanview's 40-title catalog.
Assassin will be the first title developed. Amber's Ileen Maisel and Lawrence Elman will produce, with Oceanview founders Robert and Patricia Gussin and Susan Greger exec producing.

Story centers on a female American doctor sailing solo whose boat is hijacked by an Israeli assassin.

Maisel, a former New Line exec who founded Amber with Elman, Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming, found "Assassin" eight months ago in Massachusetts while visiting a friend in Massachusetts and tracked down Gregor in a nearby town. bullet FULL ARTICLE
